जंजीरा किला : इसकी नींव है बीस फीट गहरी

Janjira Fort: Its foundation is twenty feet deep

महाराष्ट्र के रायगढ़ जिले में समुद्र तट पर स्थित जंजीरा किला अरबी के अल जंजीरा शब्द का अपभ्रंश है। इसका तात्पर्य है द्वीप। यह अजेय दुर्ग है, जो अरब सागर में 22 एकड़ के एक छोटे अंडाकार टापू पर बना हुआ है। यह कीला करीब 350 वर्ष पुराना माना जाता है। स्थानीय लोग इसे अजिनक्या किला कहते हैं। इसका शाब्दिक अर्थ है, अजेय होना। इसकी नींव बीस फिट गहरी है। किले के निर्माण में 22 वर्ष लगे और इसका विस्तार 22 एकड़ में है। साथ ही इसमें 22 सुरक्षा चौकियां है। इस किले में तत्कालीन शासकों की कई तोपे अभी भी रखी हुई है। किले तक नाव के द्वारा ही पहुंचा जा सकता है। इसके मुख्य द्वार के अंदर प्रवेश करते ही सामने की दीवार पर शेर बना है, जीसने हाथियों की पीठ पर अपने पंजे रखे हुए हैं। किले के अंदर राजमहल, अफसरों आदि के रिहायशी मकान,मकबरे मस्जिद के खंडहर है। किले के अंदर दो बड़े तालाब है।

This invincible fort is built on a small oval island of 22 acres in the Arabian Sea.This fort is believed to be about 350 years old. Local people call it Ajinkya Fort. Its literal meaning is to be invincible. Its foundation is twenty feet deep. The fort took 22 years to build and is spread over 22 acres. Also it has 22 security posts.Many cannons of the then rulers are still kept in this fort. The fort can be reached only by boat.As soon as you enter inside its main gate, a lion is made on the front wall, which has kept its paws on the backs of elephants.Inside the fort are the ruins of the palace, residential houses of officers, tombs and mosques. There are two big ponds inside the fort.
